Meet Team Advanced Dermatology & Skin Surgery
At Advanced Dermatology & Skin Surgery, we believe that Dermatologic care is about more than just treatment—it’s about building relationships, fostering trust, and helping patients feel their best. Dr. Staci Hestdalen, M.D., FAAD, embodies this philosophy as a Board-Certified Dermatologist specializing in Medical, Cosmetic, and skin cancer treatment.
“Being a General Dermatologist who specializes in Cosmetic Dermatology has given me the opportunity to help people feel good about the skin they are in,” Dr. Hestdalen shares.
Originally from Texas, Dr. Hestdalen completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Duke University before earning her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She trained in general surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center before completing her Dermatology Residency at the University of Texas Medical Center and a Fellowship in Clinical Research at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
As a member of the Washington State Medical Association, Spokane County Medical Society, and Idaho Medical Association, Dr. Hestdalen is a leader in her field. She finds deep fulfillment in patient interactions, saying, “I find a tremendous amount of joy in seeing my patients evolve over the years. Whether it’s making a diagnosis, healing someone, or easing their suffering, I love what I do.”
She’s proud to work alongside a team of top Dermatology Providers and believes that excellence starts with empathy and patient-centered care. “As long as we place ourselves in a patient’s position, we never lose sight of what it feels like to need care. Meet Dr. Staci Hestdalen
Dr. Joe Cvancara, a highly respected Dermatologic Surgeon specializing in skin cancer and aging skin, brings unparalleled expertise to his practice. As a Fellowship-Trained Mohs Surgeon and a member of the prestigious American College of Mohs Surgery, Dr. Cvancara is dedicated to providing the highest level of care. “I love to diagnose and definitively treat patients, whether with medicine, education, or surgery,” he shares. “There’s nothing better than helping people.”
Dr. Cvancara’s career began with summa cum laude honors from the University of Idaho, followed by his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in 1992. His service as a U.S. Air Force officer included roles as a flight surgeon and Chief of Dermatology at David Grant Medical Center. He then pursued a Mohs Surgery Fellowship at Billings Clinic in Montana.
With over 18,000 skin cancer cases treated, Dr. Cvancara has earned a reputation for excellence. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine. “The most rewarding part of my job is the thankful patients. I am blessed.”

Joseph Cvancara, M.D., FAAD:
A Leader in Skin Cancer Treatment and Surgical Precision
At Advanced Dermatology & Skin Surgery, we believe that great patient care starts with great Dermatology Providers. Dr. Chadd Sukut, M.D., FAAD, is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Fellowship-Trained Mohs Surgeon who embodies this commitment through expertise, compassion, and a patient-first approach.

Dr. Sukut specializes in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Medical Dermatology, treating patients with precision and care. A Montana native, he completed his medical education at the University of Washington School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the nation’s most prestigious medical honor society. His residency at Southern Illinois University (SIU) culminated in his role as Chief Resident, followed by an advanced Mohs Surgery Fellowship and faculty position in the SIU Dermatology Residency Program.
Beyond clinical care, Dr. Sukut is dedicated to medical education and mentorship, serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Washington School of Medicine’s WWAMI residency program. He is also an active member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

Join a Team That Puts Patients First:
Meet Dr. Chadd Sukut
Dr. Paul Dunn, M.D., FAAD, is a Board-Certified Dermatologist with a passion for treating complex skin conditions and skin cancers. Specializing in Medical Dermatology and skin cancer treatments, Dr. Dunn is dedicated to delivering thorough, compassionate care. “I’ve seen so many patients who haven’t received proper care for their skin. I’m sensitive to that and committed to providing the right care,” he shares.
Dr. Dunn completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah, followed by medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He went on to complete his Dermatology residency at the University of New Mexico, gaining valuable experience in both Medical and Surgical Dermatology. After practicing in Lewiston, Idaho, for five years, he moved to Spokane, where he continues to provide outstanding Dermatologic care.
Having seen family members battle skin cancer, Dr. Dunn understands the importance of early detection and treatment. “I want our patients to be treated as I would want my family to be treated,” he says.
Dr. Dunn is Board-Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and participating in various sports. He values his team’s camaraderie: “We all have a common goal to provide the best care possible.”

Dr. Paul Dunn:
A Compassionate Leader in Dermatology and Skin Cancer Treatment
Dr. Courtney Gwinn, M.D., FAAD, is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Fellowship-Trained Mohs Surgeon with expertise in Mohs skin cancer surgery, Medical Dermatology, and Cosmetic Dermatology. Passionate about delivering individualized care, Dr. Gwinn specializes in treating skin cancer while ensuring natural, subtle results in her cosmetic procedures. “I wanted the ability to have significant variety in my day. That actually prompted me to come here and join this practice,” she shares.
Dr. Gwinn graduated with honors from the University of Utah, earning a degree in biochemistry with a minor in music. She earned her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and awarded the Gold Humanism Award for her compassion. After completing a residency at University of Washington, she pursued Fellowships in Mohs Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology with industry pioneers.
Thriving in a collaborative and supportive environment, Dr. Gwinn appreciates the opportunity to learn from colleagues, saying, “If a challenging case comes up, we can run slides past each other and learn constantly.”
Dr. Gwinn brings a wealth of knowledge and a genuine passion for patient care to Advanced Dermatology & Skin Surgery, making her a vital team member. “I love coming to work and seeing other people that I can learn from and grow from. I also love the staff. Everybody is so hard working, so genuine.”
